Written for our playgroup's end-of-year concert. Kids are doing amazing work by PLAYING!

Even though I'm only about three
There's so many things I could be
I could be a firefighter, I could be a copywriter
Maybe I could be a doctor, or I could fly a helicopter
I could be a preacher, I could be a teacher
I could be a millionaire
I could build houses, I could sew trousers
Or maybe I could do your hair

I could be anything I want to
But right now there's a couple things I must do
I've gotta run around and jump and clim - I've got to play
And that's why today I'm saying thank you
For everything you gave me and you did do
Cos I have simply been a kid everyday, everyday

Even though I'm only dreaming
All my good ideas are streaming
I could be a dairy farmer, or find a good career in drama
Maybe I could be a banker, or operate an oil tanker
I could be a singer or a rugby winger
Or check to see that you can hear
I could be a mommy, I could be a daddy
I could be an engineer

I could be anything I want to
But right now there's a couple things I must do
I've gotta run around and jump and clim - I've got to play
And that's why today I'm saying thank you
For everything you gave me and you did do
Cos I have simply been a kid everyday, everyday

I have painted, made a mess
Counted to 20 - more or less
I have jumped, I have run
eaten my lunch out in the sun
Did some puzzles, played some games
Found new friends and learned their names
Singing songs was really cool
And now I know that...

I could be anything I want to
